Heathrow-Sydney

Im leaving in 2 hours. Having some bubble and squeak, taking eyes out, putting glasses on and heading to Terminal 3. It;ll be my first time in Oz. Im excited about the usual things, Kangaroos, flat whites, the water running the wrong way down the plug hole, and super excited about the wineries ill be visiting, and the squid fishing on Day 9. YOu see, Ive won this trip and the prize is -the trip, and in return I must tell all about Aussie wine. Im a sommelier at The RIver Cafe, Hammersmith. For the last 4 years I’ve worked with an all-Italian list and visited Italy loads. I love it. There is such diversity - so many grapes and wines and ways of doing things with wheat. I know so little about Australia and the wine or food scene there, but i keep hearing about it being brilliant, many of my friends at the cafe are Aussie and have really hyped it up to me. I trust them. At the THis time (sort of) tomorrow, ill be in Singapore waiting to board a flight to Sydney, and I arrive in Syd at 6 a.m on Sat morn. Im travelling with 9 people ive never met before, actually i know RIchard, 8 people ive never met before - winos from all around the world.

Brunch at Bills Cafe,359 Crown St.Surrey Hills at 10 a.m. ive heard it’s ALL about his pancakes. Then free time to visit the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and a ferry to Manley (what/where is Manley, is it like Alcatraz? In which case ill skip the ferry and go shopping for waterproof shoes, i hear it’s raining, and all the shoes i have packed are made from cloth and rubber.they’ll come in handy should lightening strike.not me though, not with my rubber soles.)

Bubble and then boarding. Cannot wait. 14 hours of sitting down and somebody bringing me stuff to eat and drink. eating, sleeping, watching rom coms. Holiday starts at Heathrow.
